Evidence-based Entrepreneurship: Rethinking Life Science Start-Ups

Maria Thompson on September 12, 2013

Over the past few weeks we have covered a series of blogs from Steve Blank, the Silicon Valley serial-entrepreneur and academician who is recognized for developing the Customer Development methodology, which launched the Lean Startup movement.

Part 1 of this post described the issues in the drug discovery. Part 2 covered medical devices and digital health. This final post describes what one can do about it.1 For example, what if we could increase productivity and stave the capital flight by helping Life Sciences startups build their companies more efficiently?

To test this hypothesis Steve Blanks is teaching a Lean LaunchPad class for Life Sciences and Health Care (therapeutics, diagnostics, devices and digital health) this October at UCSF with a team of veteran venture capitalists.

To learn more about this, and read his observations about why drug discovery start-ups aren’t as straight forward as “Invent cure for cancer and then figure out where to put the bags of money”, read his full blog post.
