The British company ARCTEC has Scientist. Scientist asked Chris Rice, Business Development Manager at ARCTEC, a few questions about the company vision and their offer.

Chris Rice, tell us more about your background.

I am a scientific researcher by training, having completed my Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology in 2010. I joined ARCTEC in April 2017, intrigued by the area of insecticides and insect control, fascinated by the history of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and inspired by ARCTEC’s vision to provide excellence across so many different sectors; from public health, through to agriculture, pest control and animal health.

About ARCTEC, what is its history, its mission?

ARCTEC is a Centre of Excellence in Entomology. The principles of ARCTEC are to provide high-quality science and exemplary customer service. The mission of ARCTEC is to take the core principles of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine for ”improving health worldwide” and to apply mantra to our clients through the expertise of our dynamic team of commercially-focused scientists, and our friendly and informed business operatives.

What services does your lab offer?

We are a one-stop shop for entomological testing. Everything from small-scale development works for a novel insect control product, through to clinical trials for product registration- and everything in between.

Looking to test your product in the field? Would you like to measure your product’s impact in a global health setting? Looking for some consultancy, or need to get your staff trained in basic entomology?

We meet these needs and more, covering everything from laboratory testing, through to training, education, marketing, and public engagement
