Precision Medicine With Nutrigenetic Tests
The company GenetX provides genetic tests for people who want to better know themselves. GenetX has Scientist so we asked a few questions to Bogdan Ivanov, Management Consultant in the Romanian company to better know the company and its vision.
What is your name? Tell us more about you.
My name is Bogdan Ivanov. Based on daily quantities of nutrients intake obtained analyzing DNA mutations, we at GenetX develop a nutrigenetic profile image. Using a nutrigenetic profile, we can provide a food list which fulfills all the personal nutritional needs in a time interval.
About your lab, what is its history, its mission?
We are providing nutrigenetic tests. We aim to increase the life expectancy of people, providing the only genetic test with the most accurate and personalized nutritional information and prevents diseases with genetic background.
What sets your expertise apart from others?
We assess individual nutritional needs according to genetic background.
- The DNA is sequenced using the Ion Torrent technology. A Next Generation Sequencing library, designed using the Ion AmpliSeq Designer, and consisting of 335 amplicons is used to identify up to 387 genetic variations in up to 99 genes.
- The test detects single nucleotide polymorphisms and small insertions and deletions with a reportable sequencing depth of >20X. The targeted coverage is 100X, with most samples having an average coverage of above 1000X.
- The algorithm used for nutrition assessment makes use of the latest published studies and involves genotype, haplotype, and gene-gene interactions analyzes
What challenges are you willing to address in the near future?
One of our ongoing projects is to develop a web application to be used by people to build their personal food list based on their personal nutritional needs.
We also want to increase our genetic test portfolio.
What do you expect from Scientist?
We expect to establish partnerships to promote our products
