Tell us more about you?

Sequentia Biotech was founded by two Italian researchers and friends who noticed there was a gap in the market for easy to use bioinformatics tools. They knew the fastest way to get them to the market was by creating their own company. Sequentia’s mission is to democratize bioinformatics, ensuring every researcher can perform their own genomics data analysis quickly, efficiently and in a more affordable way.

What is your lab’s history, its mission?

Sequentia was privately funded although it has benefitted from over half a million euros in national and European grants since its inception in 2013. Our core business is bioinformatics consulting services. We help researchers and companies from project design, NGS platform choice, and sequencing, to data analysis, integration and interpretation. Since 2017, we have also launched two online software platforms (SaaS) designed with the end user in mind. They are AIR (RNA-Seq) and Gaia (metagenomics).

What services does your lab offer?

We provide personalized bioinformatics consulting for genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and epigenomics. We have readily available online solutions for the end user (AIR and Gaia) and we can also create custom tools. Recent feedbacks we received was from someone at Harvard Medical School: “I truly love you guys. What sets your expertise apart from others?

We have high expertise and experience in both genomics and bioinformatics. We brainstorm to find the best solution for your project. We have innovative ideas that we bring to the market that transform our customers’ lives. We are a small team, and we offer personalized one-on-one consulting. Most of our business comes from mouth-to-mouth recommendations and loyal customers who have been with us for years.

What challenges are you willing to address in the near future?

We are going to add new, breakthrough applications to our existing platforms, for example, single-cell RNA-Seq analysis to our AIR platform and functional profile of microbiomes in our Gaia platform. Hopefully, we’re going to help empower researchers and companies all over the world by allowing them easy, complete, end-to-end solutions for their data analysis needs, enabling new scientific discoveries.
